So I was just contacted by a scammer on telegram, The scammer had a name in Chinese and had a profile picture of a beautiful Chinese girl. The scammer explained that she lived in china and because of a Chinese crypto ban her funds were locked in her account on the website above. If I help her withdraw her funds she will give me 10% of her Bitcoin. So all I had to do was make an account, wait for her to transfer her funds to my account and then send it back to her in a different wallet not related to the exchange while taking my 10% cut, sounds simple right?. Of-course I knew it was a scam but I played dumb and went along with it. She then gave me a link to the website above and explained I had to sign up, it only takes a minute and so on. So I went to the website using a device I've never logged into any exchange accounts on and proceeded to sign up, the website only asked for an email and password thats it, no need to verify the email, took me 20 seconds to sign up, again I used a fake email. Anyway I had logged in and my balance was 0. She then asked for the email I used to log in, so she can somehow send me her Bitcoins using that email on the website. So I gave her the fake email and within 30 seconds on the exchanges interface I had 4 Bitcoins available, I'm assuming the scammer had full control and just changed the "0 Bitcoin" to "4 Bitcoin" available to fool me. Then on telegram she asked me to withdraw the funds so I tried it and BOOM got an error saying some BS and I had to deposit a minimum of 0.01 BTC ($65) before I can withdraw my fake 4 BTC.
And thats the scam the 4 BTC is obviously fake and the goal of the scammers is to try and get you to deposit the 0.01 BTC for them to take from you.
Considering how many people get scammed from the "Elon musk giving away 5000 ETH" scam this takes it to a whole other level and it seems more believable too. I can definitely see people new to crypto getting scammed by this so spread the word and stay safe.
