I have had a look at Bisq as I want to sell some of my Bitcoin for fiat. It looks like my country doesn’t have an active user base on here since there is not much sellers.
Here is a scenario: If I wanted to sell $1000 of Bitcoin and receive fiat dollars for it into my bank account. What security measures is in place to prevent the sellers from charging back the fiat later on that they have sent me? Is something like this even possible? What is going to protect and what can be done for victims of this etc?
This is the only reason I haven’t used Bisq yet as I cannot afford to lose my Bitcoin and my fiat dollars. So if anyone have a good understanding and experience with Bisq please fill me in...
I have a RasPi-4 8GB motherboard and need to know if it is possible to run Bisq directly on such a motherboardj? Also, I plan to install the RaspPI version of Embassy OS Studio9. Is Bisq compatible with such an OS? Any information will be welcome.
I did a withdrawal to cold wallet with a low fee (5 sat/vB)
At first, Bisq was using my own node which had been stalled on block updates for 2 days. The transaction wasn't even in the mempool when I first realized this.
I switched to using an external node and the transaction is now in the mempool, but still has 0 confirmations after 6 more days.
How can I speed this up? My Bisq wallet is currently at 0.0 balance.
I've heard of CPFP transactions but have no idea how to execute one. Do I need to send more bitcoin to one of the stuck transaction's output addresses (there are three) and then do another withdrawal to the same receiving address as the original transaction?
First time user of Bisq. When I run the app, it establishes a Tor node and runs its sync with no problem.
If I let it sit for more than an hour or so though, it inevitably results in:
"Error: Warning Your Bisq DAO state needs to be resynced. Please navigate to DAO Network Monitor menu and follow the prompts to resync the DAO state."
Not even sure what this means.
The only way to get back up and running is to kill the app and restart it. I'd like to try Bisq but before proceeding, I'd like to know if there's a fix for this issue. I can ignore the error, but it'll just pop up again seconds later, so it's pretty much a show stopper. Having to manually restart the app every 30 mins to two hours just isn't a viable option for me.
Everything is in the default configuration. Latest version of the software. No transactions or alterations have been made.
Thanks!
I'm new to Bisq and I want to sell some bitcoins that I have. I would like to be paid directly via SEPA transfer.
I have a two questions regarding this:
Q1. What are some tips to make sure that I'm not dealing with a scammer / fraudster, through the Bisq GUI?
Q2. I'm don't know how SEPA works entirely, so let's say someone sends me 100€ and the bitcoins are sent, the transaction is completed successfully. Can the guy ask his bank to get the 100€ back a week / month later and screw me?
Q3. Has it ever happened someone had to deal with authorities because of the person who sent them money?
Like law enforcement requesting you to explain "why did Mr X who is currently investigated for terrorism / drug trafficking sent you 300€ on August 22 2023"?
Am I being too paranoid?
Thank you for your help.
Is there a way to use the secure 2 Layer System of Bisq for in Person Deals, or what should i use if i want to sell or buy in Person ?
Exchanging Cash vs Bitcoin still seems to be one of the saves ways, because after the deal there wont be any problems and any surprises
I was wondering what authority Bisq Support has and how they operate in a decentralized manner ?
Are they able to withdraw Funds and intervene in every transaction and how they are not at thread by being over taken by a hostile player ?
