About Chainlink
Chainlink occupies a very different position from most cryptocurrencies. It is not primarily trying to be digital cash or a general-purpose blockchain. Instead, Chainlink provides oracle infrastructure that allows smart contracts to interact with external data, including asset prices, proof-of-reserve information, randomness, and cross-chain messaging.
This makes Chainlink important because blockchains are isolated by design. Smart contracts cannot automatically know what is happening in the outside world unless reliable data is provided to them. Chainlink has become one of the best-known solutions to that problem, especially in DeFi and other data-dependent blockchain applications.
LINK is followed by traders, developers, and infrastructure-focused investors because it represents exposure to a critical layer of the crypto stack. As tokenized assets, DeFi protocols, and real-world blockchain applications grow, oracle networks may become even more important. Chainlink’s role in that infrastructure is what gives LINK its lasting relevance.

Chainlink FAQ
What is Chainlink (LINK)?
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network launched in 2017 that operates on the Ethereum blockchain. It enables smart contracts to securely access off-chain data, such as price feeds, weather information, and other real-world data, by connecting them to external data sources through a network of node operators.
How does Chainlink work?
Chainlink uses a network of independent node operators who retrieve data from various off-chain sources, validate it, and deliver it to smart contracts on-chain. The network aggregates responses from multiple nodes to ensure accuracy and reliability, preventing single points of failure and tampering. This decentralized approach ensures that smart contracts receive trustworthy data.
What is the LINK token used for?
The LINK token is the native cryptocurrency of the Chainlink network. It is used to pay node operators for their services in retrieving and delivering data to smart contracts. Additionally, LINK is used as a form of collateral to incentivize node operators to provide accurate and reliable data, as they can be penalized for incorrect responses.
How does Chainlink differ from other oracle solutions?
Chainlink differentiates itself through its decentralized architecture, which relies on multiple independent node operators rather than a single centralized oracle. This reduces the risk of manipulation and downtime. Chainlink also supports a wide range of data types and is designed to be compatible with various blockchain platforms, though it initially launched on Ethereum. Its reputation system and aggregation methods are key features that set it apart.
What is the current price of Chainlink?
Chainlink is currently priced at $8.26, up 1.55% in the last 24 hours. It is ranked #15 by market capitalization. Over the past 7 days, LINK is up 0.50%.
What is Chainlink's market cap?
Chainlink has a market capitalization of $6.18B. The 24-hour trading volume is $185.31M, reflecting the total value of LINK traded across all exchanges in the last day.
How many Chainlink coins are in circulation?
There are currently 748.10M LINK in circulation. Chainlink has a maximum supply of 1.00B LINK, meaning no more than this amount will ever exist.
