ContentBox (BOX) is an ERC-20 compliant token developed on Ethereum blockchain that plays a key role in the economy of ContentBox's ecosystem. ContentBox token is used to decentralize the payment infrastructure, identity services and build the applications with a stronger monetization ability. The objective of ContentBox platform is to empower a decentralized digital content ecosystem. ContentBox solves these three problems by offering a shared content pool, a shared user pool, and a unified payout system. ContentBox benefits all the stakeholders in the content industry including content creators, consumers, distributors, advertisers and application developers.

ContentBox offers three major services Box Payout (for content creators), Box Passport (a blockchain-based identity service) and Box Unpack (a solution for small and medium-sized distributors to set up content platform easily). The content creators are compensated using ContentBox's payout system where they are rewarded each time their content is consumed. Content consumers are rewarded with the BOX tokens according to their contribution.

ContentBox is developing a dedicated blockchain which will offer thousands of transactions per second, a higher level of privacy, and will enable micropayments. Once the mainnet is live all the ContentBox (BOX) tokens will be transferred to the ContentBox blockchain. The consensus mechanism is derived from proof of stake, named as Proof of Network Effect will be used for the transactions.

ContentBox is developed and governed under the ContentBox foundation Limited, a non-profit organization. The future plan is to transform the foundation into a totally software defined organization.
