Secret (SCRT) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2020. It is the native token of Secret Network, a blockchain designed for privacy-preserving smart contracts. On Secret Network, data used by applications can be encrypted, and only specific parties see the underlying information. The project’s official website is scrt.network, and SCRT is the ticker for the network’s core asset.

Secret Network uses a consensus layer and trusted execution environments (TEEs) to achieve private computation. Validators process encrypted transaction data inside a TEE, verify the result, and update the blockchain without exposing raw inputs. This creates what are known as secret contracts—smart contracts whose inputs, outputs, and state can remain hidden. Secret (SCRT) is the token that powers this system.

SCRT is the native token of Secret and is used across Secret Network in several ways. Holders can pay network fees for transactions and smart-contract execution, delegate SCRT to validators to help secure the network, and vote on governance proposals. It is also the standard medium of exchange for decentralized applications built on Secret Network that handle confidential data.

Secret (SCRT) differs from fully transparent smart-contract platforms like Ethereum by encrypting the data behind transactions by default. While Ethereum exposes all transaction details to any observer, Secret Network’s encrypted nodes allow information to be used without being revealed. This makes Secret suitable for use cases such as private DeFi, data sharing, and identity-related applications that require confidentiality by design.
