For transparency purposes, below is the email I wrote to GSoC asking for feedback on our rejected proposal:
I'm an org admin for Namecoin. (Google account [redacted].) We weren't accepted to GSoC this year (3rd rejection in a row, rather unfortunate). I saw on Freenode #gsoc that you're not doing the IRC meeting anymore to give feedback on applications that were rejected, and that we should email you for feedback instead. Any chance you could provide any feedback on whether there's anything we could improve for next year? I suspect that the answer will simply be "Too many orgs applied, tough choices were made" since that was the feedback we got the last 2 years that we applied, but I wouldn't be doing due diligence if I didn't ask. :)
(CC'ing to Daniel Kraft, our other org admin. Directing your reply to both of us would be greatly appreciated.)
Lead Application Engineer at Namecoin
And the reply from GSoC:
We had 378 applications and were only able to accept 212 orgs this year so we had to say no to many orgs. This is the primary reason you were rejected.
Your ideas list is solid, and we do try and accept new orgs each year so we encourage you to apply again in the future. Unfortunately we had to say no to many folks and this year that included your project.

So yeah, as I expected, no actionable feedback, but it's good to hear that Google continues to believe our application is solid.
If anyone's interested in an active crypto discussion community feel free to join, this isn't some pump / signal / paid / shill group that people always complain about.
Theres daily voice chats and active text channels for discussions. In the discord we have self made whales, wanna be ballers, Bitmex & Gdax day traders, Chartists, Devs from front page and second page coins, crypto journalists, a couple crypto youtubers with followings, and we've mostly all been in crypto for a while. Our group has been around for a long time and we're always looking for like minded and intelligent crypto enthusiasts. We have a good crypto community that discusses more than just what coins to buy and the tech behind them.
The community has great: masternode advice / analysis ICO analysis small cap coins technical analysis taking profits getting good entries Etc.
