Bitcoin Diamond [BCD] is a hard fork of Bitcoin [BTC] that was launched by two Bitcoin miners: Teams Evey and 007. They made improvements to the Bitcoin protocol with the aim of improving transaction time, lowering transaction costs and making the currency more accessible to new users.
Bitcoin Diamond blocks will hold 8 MB as opposed to the standard Bitcoin block holding 1 MB of transaction information, allowing it to process eight times the amount of information on the same block timeShow more [+] mpared to its predecessor. It also plans to implement the lightning network to allow faster transaction speeds.
The fork happened in November 2017 upon reaching the predetermined block height of 495886. BCD holds a total supply of 210 million coins (10 times that of BTC). BTC holders at the time of the fork had gotten 10 times the amount of BTC they had in BCD.
