Ark is a blockchain network that aims to increase consumer adoption of blockchain technology by integrating and building upon existing industry developments, offering multiple use case possibilities and linking other blockchains through its Smartbridge mechanism. Smartbridge allows external blockchains to communicate with each other and perform functions by implementing a small snippet of code. Users are able to execute a command via the Ark wallet to compatible blockchains.
Ark improvedShow more [+] on the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus algorithm introduced by BitShares, wherein coin holders are able to vote for Delegates to “mine” new coins. There will be 51 active forging Delegates, which may be increased in the future for scaling purposes.
The Ark network uses the ARK coin as its native currency and is used for transactions fees as well as registering and voting for delegates.
